“His delivery on old and new favorites is edgy, sexy in a way that recalls Michael Bublé when he started out…”
—John Hoglund, Theaterscene.net
Andrew Suvalsky is the consummate artist. He expresses himself both as a celebrated musician, showcasing vocal chops and spot-on rhythm, and also as an award winning interior designer as the owner and principal of Andrew Suvalsky Designs. In short, he creates art from two passions and talents—disciplines which, in the creation of beautiful environments and experiences—perfectly complement each other.
Originally from Milwaukee, Andrew began his musical career as part of the Jackie Allen Jazz improvisational group in Chicago. Soon after, he was regularly performing with the Old Town Jazz Finesse at the historic Fairmont Hotel and Chicago's Up and Coming Jazz Review at Magnum Supper Club. He moved to New York in 1998 and produced and starred in his one-man show, “All I Want”, followed by two other original shows, “My American Songbook” performed at Danny's Skylight Room and “Closer to My Own Age” at club Bar D'O.
The shows were followed by the recording of Vintage Pop and the Jazz Sides, released in April 2006. Critics and audiences alike welcomed the CD with glowing reviews. On “Vintage Pop...” Mr. Suvalsky showcased a unique ability to artfully blur the line between jazz standards and classic pop songs. The result was a new sound, un-matched by peers performing a similar repertoire. The CD was heralded as one the Top Ten Jazz CDs of that year by John Hoglund (Playbill, Back Stage Magazine, Theater Scene). His sold-out performances celebrating its release at New York's The Metropolitan Room won him a Bistro Award for Best Jazz Vocal Performance while a promo single from the CD, “Love is Alive” reached number one on numerous indie-radio formats. A year-long performance schedule promoting the CD culminated in sold-out performances at New York City's legendary Blue Note Jazz Club, garnering rave reviews.
His much anticipated follow-up recording, "A World That Swings," is an exciting and formidable feet-first jump into to the world of jazz vocalists. On it he swings and scats with an ease that artfully matches the passion and depth he effortless brings to the CD's carefully chosen ballads.
