New York’s multi award winning Rick Skye is bringing his internationally acclaimed show, “A Slice O’ Minnelli” back to Harlans for one night only!
Winner of the Award for "Best Achievement in Performance" at the 2007 Dublin Theatre Festival, the 2006 MAC Award (Manhattan Association of Cabarets and Clubs) for Best Impersonator and the Backstage Bistro Award, Broadway veteran Rick Skye has taken "A Slice O' Minnelli" from New York to Chicago, the Edinburgh Festival, a “sold-out” season in Covent Garden, the Apollo Theatre in London's West End, The Dublin Theatre Festival and many regional theaters in the US. Displaying Liza's physical and vocal mannerisms along with a smashing voice, Rick has created an outrageous show, a non-stop production number tracing Liza's legendary career.
His razor sharp parodies of such diverse songs as "Mein Herr" and "Sara Lee", have left audiences weak from laughter. Along with a pair of unquestionably alluring legs, this "tribute with a twist" includes a "new" Charles Aznavour song, a screen test for the upcoming musical film of "Sunset Boulevard", a “Happy Endings” production number and a tribute to "one of her famous parents."
“Skye’s Channeling of this unbowed superstar is sensational!” – The Times
“I can hardly distinguish Rick Skye from the Diva herself” – The Independent”
“This astonishing show — part tribute, part parody — is altogether as loving as it is truthful…it’s Liza with a Z(ing)!" – Marc Shimkin, THE STAGE
More than an impersonation, this is an evening of fine writing, comedy, characterization and musical performance. The excellent musical direction is performed by The Nevermore’s own Michael Ferreri, a much sought after singer/pianist who has performed his own acclaimed show at Jermyn Street Theatre and Lauderdale House.
"Will leave you satisfied, yet panting for more!” – Time Out New York
"Astonishing… Masterful… Brilliant… this is an amazing hour of fine writing, amazing impersonation and true love for his material" – Chicago Sun-Times
"Rick Skye thinks so much of Liza Minnelli that he makes her sound better than she ever actually has — a voice that raises rafters without splintering them…. A WINNER!!" – Back Stage, New York
Everybody loves a winner… sings Liza in "Maybe This Time", one of the show’s standout numbers. Audiences old and young, gay and straight, respond to this highly polished production, with wall-to-wall special material and enough sequins to float the Titanic.
