Eddie Sarfaty
Mental

Edie Sarfaty has appeared on The Today Show, on Comedy Central’s Premium Blend, and on Logo’s stand-up show, Wisecrack. He has been featured at Montreal’s Just for Laughs Comedy Festival and is one of the subjects of the documentary, Laughing Matters. Candid and caustic, Eddie Sarfaty is a natural storyteller, and his rapier wit effortlessly captures the everyday absurdities of life, blending self-deprecation and sarcasm with a razor-sharp instinct for the ridiculous.

“Polished and sure-fire with the one-liners ricocheting off the walls.”
—Bay Windows

The performance is a fund-raiser with proceeds benefiting The National Gay & Lesbian Task Force & The Mazzoni Center.

Farley's Bookshop will be on site for a book signing with Eddie after the performance.

Book

MENTAL: FUNNY IN THE HEAD (Kensington Press) finds Eddie Sarfaty lovingly skewing his dazzlingly dysfunctional family — whether recounting a family European vacation, where his ailing father shouts obscenities at the Mona Lisa, or discovering his mother surfing JewHunt.net in search of a mahjong á trois. Mental also has Eddie turning the spotlight on his own misadventures with equal glee, including a disastrous summer in Portugal working on a knock-off production of The Phantom of the Opera, and an unfortunate decision to jump a subway turnstile in New York City that ends in a night of hell and near electrocution.

Sarfaty proves that there is dignity and hilarity in what may seem ordinary. His short episodes individually encapsulate the range of human emotion. —Advocate.com

Mental is hilarious, which is appropriate considering Sarfaty is in the business of making people laugh, but also offers surprising insight into the human condition. —Metrosource Magazine

Sarfaty is a master humorist; better yet, he's a gifted storyteller. —Seattle Gay News

Eddie Sarfaty’s Mental made me laugh out loud on the subway, which elicited glares from strangers. Read it in public if you don’t mind drawing attention to yourself, read it in private if you do mind, but read it! —Michael Cunningham, Pulitzer Prize winning author of The Hours.
